The Institute for the Future of Education (IFE) at Tecnológico de Monterrey extends a warm invitation to participate in the 5th edition of TecPrize, open from July 1st to August 29th, 2024.

TecPrize is an open innovation initiative aimed at showcasing, supporting, and promoting innovative educational solutions that contribute to closing the skills gap in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Previous winners and finalists from the four past editions of TecPrize have raised over $3 million in funding and have impacted over 1.5 million learners.

How can young people and adults in Latin America and the Caribbean develop the most demanded job or digital skills to reduce the talent gap and positively impact their community?

With this goal in mind, the TecPrize 2024 challenge seeks technological solutions that impact Latin America and the Caribbean by:

Dimension 1 – Develop skills in higher education or lifelong learning through disruptive technologies.

Dimension 2 – Reduce the gender gap in education and workforce development innovatively and scalably.

Dimension 3 – Provide accessibility and inclusion in education to individuals in vulnerable contexts through digital solutions.

Dimension 4 – Impact diversity and inclusion in human talent by developing the workforce in organizations.

1. EdTech ventures / solutions addressing educational challenges within the scope of this year's challenge.

2. Startups at MVP stage or beyond (first sales, pre-seed capital, seed capital).

3. Open to all types of ventures (for-profit/non-profit, among others).

4. International event held both in-person and virtually.

1. Economic prizes of $30,000, $20,000 and $10,000 USD for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, respectively.

2. Prominent participation at the IFE EdTech Summit in January 2025 in Monterrey, Mexico, including full package with entry, flight, accommodation, and a booth at the EdTech fair for the top 10 finalists.

3. Live finals on the mainstage of the IFE Conference for the top 10 finalists in January 2025.

4. Participation in an impact measurement bootcamp designed to enhance projects for the top 10 finalists.

5. Access to experts, mentors, and valuable connections within Tecnológico de Monterrey and the edtech ecosystem.

6. Six month mentoring program for the 3 winners with the Eugenio Garza Lagüera Entrepreneurship Institute and Sniper Canvas.

7. Admission for 1 of the 3 winners to the USC Education Technology Accelerator program at the University of Southern California - Rossier School of Education.

•Submit all requested information in a timely manner for participation and logistics.

•Be available to travel to Monterrey, Mexico in January 2025.

•Actively participate in the in-person events of the program: impact measurement bootcamp, TecPrize final, and booth at the edtech park.

•If selected as a winner, complete the 6-month mentoring program.

•Provide additional information for statistical purposes such as: grants/prizes received, learners impacted, capital raised, and any other relevant project updates.

Is the program in-person or online?

The program has an in-person component during the IFE Conference week from January 28 to 30, 2025 in Monterrey, Mexico. Winners will have a 6-month virtual accompaniment program.

What are the dates of the call?

From July 1 to August 29.

What is the cost of the program?

The program is free of charge and equity-free for winning solutions.

Can a team apply?

Yes, it is possible. If one person represents the team, it is important to note that program benefits apply to 1 person per project/solution.

Do I need to be Mexican to participate?

No, the call is open to all Spanish-speaking individuals.

Do I need to belong to Tec System or another educational institution to participate?

No, the call is open; it is not necessary to belong to any educational institution.

Do I need to know English to participate?

No, the program is in Spanish. However, English proficiency is valuable if selected to maximize program benefits.

What is the evaluation and selection process like?

There will be two evaluation phases where an international jury of highly valued experts in the education, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem will determine the selection of the 10 finalist solutions.

When will the 10 finalist solutions be announced? After completing the evaluation process, the 10 finalist solutions will be contacted via email during October.

Furthermore, TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY will collect and process identification and contact personal data of the individuals you designate as co-authors (co-founders) of the startup, and of third parties whose personal data you voluntarily provide. By providing this personal data, you acknowledge that you have their consent for TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY to process it to fulfill the primary and necessary purposes outlined in this notice.

Additionally, we inform you that, in order to fulfill the primary and necessary purposes outlined in this Notice, TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY will not collect or process sensitive personal data.

TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY may process your personal data to fulfill the following primary and necessary purposes:

To register and manage your participation as an applicant in the call. To contact you regarding information related to your participation, follow-up, and/or results of your application in the call. To contact you to gather feedback and insights as an applicant in the call and/or as an accepted startup.

We inform you that you cannot object to TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY ceasing the processing of your data for the aforementioned primary and necessary purposes, as such processing is necessary to fulfill the obligations derived from your participation in the project.

Secondary purposes

We inform you that TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY will use your personal information for the following secondary purposes, which, although not necessary for your participation in the project, allow us to provide better service:
